CRAIG HUGH SMYTH VISITING FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

 Online submission of the Craig Hugh Smyth Visiting Fellowship application is encouraged. To submit a Craig Hugh Smyth Visiting Fellowship application electronically, the applicant will need an email address and a browser at the level of Explorer 6 or higher as well as Adobe Reader 6 or higher.

The deadline for ALL applications whether submitted online or received by post remains April 15.  Late applications will not be accepted.

COMPLETING THE APPLICATION

Step 1  At the bottom of this page the applicant will be asked to accept the Italian law relating to privacy and personal data protection.  Acceptance is required in order to proceed with the application.

Step 2  The application form will open automatically after step #1 is complete.  It can be completed immediately or saved on your computer to be completed and submitted at a later time.

To submit the application form, click Submit by Email. This will open your email program and automatically attach the fellowship application form as an xml file.  Please note, if you do not click send, the application will not go through.  To be sure that the application form has been sent, look for a copy of the application and the email in your Out box.

Step 3  An automatic confirmation will be generated once the application has been received (please note it may take a few minutes to arrive).  The automatic message will request that you send three additional, required documents by separate email attachment.

Please put your name and document description in the subject line of each email (e.g. SmithJ-CV.doc, SmithJ-Project.doc, SmithJ-Certificate.jpg) and the document title, date and page number in the header or footer of each separate document.

1. A compact curriculum vitae that does not exceed five pages, including a list of your publications - Word, or rtf format.

2. A statement  of the project to be developed at I Tatti, which should be about five double-spaced pages of normal typeface and in any case cannot exceed 1000 words.  Please give a word count at the beginning and indicate document title, date and page number in the header or footer.  The opening paragraph of the statement should be a concise abstract of the project.  A focused bibliography of one page (in addition to the 1000 words) should be added at the end.  The statement can be in English, Italian, French or German.

3. Category A  – brief letter describing current position and listing previous sabbaticals or leaves.

   Category Bbrief letter describing your family circumstances, including ages and names of children and practical arrangements you intend to make during your time in Florence.
